Varsity Volleyball Looks Ahead to District
The varsity volleyball team is getting ready for district play and has high hopes for the rest of the season. Coach Nicholas Tarr said the team has been performing well but still has a few things to improve before district begins.
“We have some things to tune up, but we will go to battle for a district title and some gold balls,” Tarr said.
He added that the whole team has been standing out, especially when they continue to play aggressively instead of tipping too much. He believes that if the team plays its game and keeps its intensity up, they can fight for a top spot in the district. Natalie Simmons also has confidence in the team. She hopes the team can make it a few games past the playoffs and set a new record for games won.
“I think we will hopefully get third in district and get a good place in the playoffs,” Simmons said.
Simmons has also earned MVP honors in all of the team’s tournaments so far. She said the experience has helped her realize how important being a team player is during games.
As the district gets closer, the team is focused on improving and playing consistently. Tarr said Nocona will likely be the toughest competition, but he wants to see how the team responds when they face them.
