Amity Club Picks Theme for New Year:
Amity Club held its opening meeting for the 2026 year on September 3 at Hamilton Street Church of Christ fellowship hall with a brunch. Hostesses were the Program Committee, which consists of Chairperson Judy Moberly, Nita Hearne, Marilyn Norris, and Kathie Smith. President Donna Sullivan opened the meeting by reciting the Club Collect. The chair was turned over to Carol Vorel, First Vice President. She passed out the yearbooks for 2026--2027. The theme this year is “Built on Brave Ideas.”

Carol Vorel also emphasized the beginnings of the Amity organization as well as strong women of the past, such as Lady Bird Johnson. Discussion of this year’s meeting, topics, and committees was held. Interesting meetings will consist of an Art Tour to the Graham Museum, conducted by Tony Widner; a program held by member Susan Black about antiques; and the Christmas Party luncheon along with music.
At the start of 2027, we will serve lunch to our Olney Hamilton Hospital employees at the new hospital. We will have a tea party, a tour of the Seymour Whiteside Museum of Natural History, where we will encounter dinosaurs, and end our year with a luncheon and installation of new officers.
President Sullivan conducted a business meeting.
