Cubs Scrimmage TLCA for First Test of the Season

Although no official score was kept during the Cubs scrimmage against the Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles, the Cubs scored the only three touchdowns during the match-up.

The Cubs looked fast and strong after a busy summer of weight and strength training. Many returning Cubs came back to the team bigger and faster than the year before, and it showed on the field.

The Cubs’ defense looked like a swarm every time an Eagle runner left the backfield, and the Cubs’ backfield handled receivers with confidence. The Cubs’ offensive ground game was steady and sure, led by running back Kyle Stewart. The Cubs’ passing game hit for some big receptions that gave them their three touchdowns of the game. The quarterback is great when scrambling for a run and pocket passing, with work still needed on pressure passing before the season begins. The Cubs travel to Electra on Thursday, Aug. 20 to battle the Tigers for their last scrimmage before the season kicks off. Game time is at 6 pm.

Fight on Cubs!
