Cowart, Camp Named to City Boards

The Olney City Council filled vacancies on two city boards during its June 23 meeting, appointing local businessman Rand Camp to the Olney Economic Development Corporation board and former City Council member Ronnie Cowart to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Mr. Camp, co-owner of Olney ACE Hardware with his wife, Kris, was appointed to replace OEDC board member Clancy Myers. The council approved Camp’s appointment unanimously.

Mr. Camp joins an OEDC board that recently welcomed Brazos Communications CEO Kyle Hinson as another new member while reappointing Tammy Montgomery and Johnny Moore to additional terms.

The council also unanimously appointed former Councilman Ronnie Cowart to the Planning and Zoning Commission, replacing longtime commissioner Jim Straley, who recently moved to Wichita Falls.

Mayor Rogers said Mr. Cowart’s years of service with the city make him well qualified for the position.

Mr. Cowart recently concluded his service on the City Council but remains active in city government. He also serves on the city’s Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone board.

The appointments took effect immediately.
