Olney Development Plans Could Hinge on County Runoff Election

As Young County voters prepare to cast ballots in the May 26 runoff election that could shape the county’s response to large-scale industrial development for years, debate over a proposed data center project has become a defining issue in the race for county judge.

Incumbent Win Graham, 55, co-owner of an oil and gas exploration company in Graham, is running for a second term against the former officeholder, John Charles Bullock, 75, a Newcastle rancher. Early voting begins May 18 and runs through May 22. Election Day is May 26.

The winner of the runoff will help determine how Young County approaches future data centers, tax abatements, and industrial expansion as Metroplex developers increasingly target rural Texas counties for massive energy-intensive projects.
