OHS Wins at District UIL Competition

Olney High School won the district UIL meet that was held on Tuesday, March 24, at Archer City with 768 points. A total of 39 students competed at district and 23 students advanced and will compete at the regional contest at Grayson College on April 24.

“The district meet went as I had hoped; we were able to win district again for the seventh consecutive year from 2019 to now,” Sherry Livingston, UIL Coordinator, said.

“Instead of it being a 2 day event like usual, they’ve combined it into a one day event so it’s going to be a really long day for everyone because it’s not split up,” Livingston said. “I’m most excited for the opportunity to go to state; we want to take more to state this year than we did last year.”

Livingston also gave her advice to students who will be competing at regionals.

“We just need students to focus on the fact that they’re representing their school and they should take it seriously,” Livingston said. “It’s an honor to go to regionals but we need to make sure we do our job there so we can go on to state!”
