Jaylee Stout: What is the biggest problem facing our country today?

Emily Morcom, junior: “One of the biggest problems our country is currently facing is ICE. ICE has raised the concerns of many immigrants, even those here legally who have done nothing wrong, due to the increase of aggression that has been displayed especially when detaining people. Many have lost their lives or been separated from family due to this organization; therefore, many Americans argue that their procedures are unlawful and clearly violate human rights, yet it continues without change.”

Chloe Church, junior: “I believe our country faces the problem of uniting as one country. There is racism, nativism, sexism, and so much more hatred in our world, leading to so much hate.”

Ava Stewart, junior: “I think that the biggest issue facing our country today is the discrepancies in the education system, because the level of education varies from state to state, and even school to school. These discrepancies make it very difficult when students transfer, not only for the students, but also for staff and teachers because they have to try to catch them up to the point that everyone else is at. Moreover, if the student is ahead in their studies, they may be put into a school and courses that are not challenging enough for them.”

Victoria Pint, sophomore: “The people in power and the corruption they foster (mostly the president, cough cough epstein files cough cough) and ICE and the economy fr, Jenna Widner, freshman: “The biggest problem in our country today is probably the prejudice and resentment everyone has towards each other. Yes it’s okay to have thoughts and opinions but whenever you express those in a violent manner is whenever things get worse. Many people resent people because of their occupation, gender, political opinions, or culture and it seems that people are so judgemental nowadays. Being different is what makes people themselves but it’s hard to be yourself if you don’t feel safe expressing how they feel. It could be so much better if people could tolerate each other instead of judging because of their beliefs and if there could be an understandable compromise it would make everyone’s life so much easier.”
