OHS Boys Shoot for Powerlifting Records

Powerlifting was introduced to the OHS program in 2023. Coach Casey Keeter has done an excellent job of coaching it. The Cubs held their first powerlifting meet at Memorial High School in Wichita Falls.

“Good chance at everyone going to regionals, good chance on (a) few to state, and school records will be broken,” Coach Keeter said.

Ricco Sandoval, Kyle Stewart, and Eric German all stood out at this meet, said Keeter. All of them PR’d in each of their lifts. For the 132’s, there were Maddox Johnson finishing first, Shaine Gerard finishing third, and Kaidyn Patterson, who finished 12th.

In the 148s, there was only one lifter, Tristan Gober, who finished 15th. In the 165 class, there was Eric German, who also finished 15th. The 181 weight class also had one competitor, Daniel Dixon, who finished fifth. In the 198 weight class, there were Kyle Stewart and AJ Solano, with Stewart finishing eighth and Solano finishing 21st.

The 220s had Ricco Sandoval and Jacobi Esquivel. Sandoval was second and Esquivel third. Lastly were the 275’s, which had Kanin Beavers and Jacob Gallardo. Beavers finished fifth, and Gallardo finished eighth.

Good job to all the boys, and best of luck on regionals and going to state.
