“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…” Song of Songs 6:3 NASBS

Beloved Christian, Today is indeed a day of rejoicing, for the eternal truth stands firm: “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” You belong to Christ—and Christ belongs to you. If you are in Him, you are a new creation, fashioned by the sovereign grace of God Himself. Truly, the old has passed away, and behold, the new has come. With everlasting love, your Beloved plucked you as a brand from the burning and clothed you in garments woven from His own righteousness. Long before time began, He set His love upon you, binding you to Himself in an unbreakable and covenantal union.

For it is written, “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son… and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” And again, concerning this covenant bond with Christ, Scripture declares, “I am convinced that neither death, nor life… nor any created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Indeed, “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”

O Christian, consider the depth of this love: the Son of God, The Lord Jesus Christ, left the glories of heaven to take up your cause. May the Holy Spirit grant you a solemn gaze upon the scourges on His back, the wounds in His sacred hands and feet, and the blood pressed from His thorncrowned brow. May you hear the cry of your Beloved upon the tree, “It is finished!” For there He bowed His head and yielded His spirit for you, demonstrating forever that you are His and He is yours.

Beloved Christian, as surely as the sun rises, the lamp of God’s Word will not go out in your heart. It will burn continually—like the golden candlesticks in Solomon’s temple—until the day your eyes behold the beauty of your Beloved’s appearing. For Christ, your great High Priest, Himself keeps the flame alive; it shall never be extinguished. “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!”

Though He was slain and laid in the tomb, behold—your Beloved lives, risen and reigning forevermore. The Father has received His sacrifice in full, and therefore you may rejoice, and again rejoice, for Scripture declares: “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.” Beloved Christian, do not allow unbelief to swoop down like birds of prey upon the covenant blessings your God has granted you. Just as Abraham drove away the birds from the sacred offering (Genesis 15:11), so must you diligently guard the precious promises of your Lord—promises sealed with His own blood and secured by His unchanging word, that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Let these realities ever rest upon your heart, for they are food for the soul and strength in the day of trouble. They are a wellspring of life, rising within as the Spirit impresses upon your mind the glorious truth that you are a child of the living and eternal God. As the Scripture proclaims, “And what shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

His Spirit testifies with your spirit that you are a child of God; and if a child, then indeed an heir—an heir of God and a fellow-heir with Jesus Christ. For the Scripture declares, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”

Therefore you may rest in this promise, firm and unshaken: “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”

He has sealed you with the Holy Spirit, who continually unveils this glorious reality to your soul. And know this with certainty: your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, inscribed with His own blood—a blood that speaks a better word than every sin that once cried out against you.
