Olney Celebrates 50 Years With Stewart’s
Olney residents packed Stewart’s Food Store on Saturday to help celebrate the hometown grocer’s 50th anniversary, marking a half-century of service, smiles, and community spirit.
The golden milestone drew a crowd from morning to evening, with shoppers enjoying deep discounts, raffles, hotdogs, and giveaways throughout the day. Store employees donned bright red and green commemorative T-shirts and handed out classic Stewart’s reusable bags to mark the anniversary.
By the end of the day, the store showed signs of a strong turnout for events that included free hotdogs, a slide show of Stewart’s five decades in business by longtime Olney resident Dale Lovett, one-dayonly specials, and raffles for prizes ranging from a 32-inch smart TV and a rifle to electric coolers from Coca-Cola and a motorcycle helmet donated by Monster Energy. Vendors joined in the fun, offering Daisy Sour Cream water bottles, Coca-Cola koozies, sunglasses, and other keepsakes.
For the Stewart’s team, the day was about gratitude as it was about nostalgia.
“We are so lucky to have a community that supports us,” Store Manager Jason Pack, who helped organize the celebration, said in the closing hours of the celebration.
