Blood Drive Set for Nov. 12 at OHS Gym

The Olney Blood drive will be Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the high school gym. Blood drives are very important because blood donations go to hospitals in the area. Donating blood can help people with many difficult situations they are in; for example; older people with health difficulties dealing with their age, those who have been in major accidents and emergency situations, and mothers who may experience problems during childbirth.

“I wouldn’t have made it home to be with my children if it wasn’t for blood donors,” Megan Jeske, OES art teacher, said. “I am healthy and I have recovered because of the blood donations I received.“To those donors, thank you. Now, I see the importance of blood donation and how it saves people’s lives. I would not be here to raise my daughters without your lifesaving gift.”

If you plan on donating, you should drink plenty of water leading up to the donation day and eat a well balanced meal two hours before. Every donor receives a wellness check and a donation gift. High schoolers will also receive a cord for graduation after making two donations.

Please donate if you are able or you can have people donate for you if you have medical incapabilities. Just go to the drive and tell them who you are donating for. Blood drives are very important and OHS would love to have lots of people donating.
