Mallory Sworn In As District Clerk
Young County has a new District Clerk following the resignation of longtime clerk Jamie Land.
Stacey Mallory, who worked alongside Mrs. Land in the District Clerk’s office, was sworn into the position on Sept. 12 by District Judge Phillip Gregory.
Ms. Mallory will complete the unexpired term and continue overseeing court filings, jury management, and records for the 90th Judicial District Court.
The appointment came after Mrs. Land announced in late August that she would step down after more than a decade of service.
During the Aug. 25 meeting of the Young County Commissioners Court, Mrs. Land told officials and citizens that she had accepted a new role as Regional Data Coordinator with the state Office of Court Administration.
She pledged to “work closely” with the clerk appointed by Judge Gregory to ensure a smooth transition.
Mrs. Land was first appointed District Clerk on Jan. 1, 2015, and served until her resignation took effect Sept. 12.
In her resignation letter, she said she was excited for her new position but deeply grateful for the trust and support she received from the court and the Young County community.
County Judge Win Graham expressed surprise but praised Land’s dedication.
“That’s huge news,” he said at the Aug. 25 meeting. “You’ve done such a great job. I’m happy for you but disappointed for us.”
