Man Arrested 3 Times After Olney Allsup’s Fight

An Albuquerque man was arrested three times in less than 24 hours last weekend after assaulting a teenager at the Allsup’s convenience store in Olney, stealing from a Graham vape shop, and later attacking jailers, police said.

Olney Interim Police Chief Autumn Thames said she received a call about a physical altercation at the Allsup’s on Main Street at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.

When she arrived, she found Germaine White, of Albuquerque, fighting with a teenage boy. The teenager, who was identified as Mr. White’s girlfriend’s nephew, was on a road trip with Mr. White from Fort Worth to New Mexico when the two got into an argument.

Mr. White allegedly became enraged at something the teenager said and began striking him in the face.

Multiple citizens attempted to break up the fight before officers arrived. Chief Thames said. The teenager was left bleeding with a possible broken cheekbone.

Chief Thames said Mr. White refused to comply with orders to submit to handcuffs and lashed out at her. She deployed her Taser while waiting briefly for Constable Cliff Blackstock and Young County deputies to arrive.

Mr. White was taken into custody, and both he and the teenager received medical attention from Olney EMS.

Mr. White bonded out of the Young County Jail the next day on $3,000 bail on the assault charge, jail records show. Within hours, he was arrested again in Graham for allegedly stealing a vape from a local shop and resisting arrest, Chief Thames said.

Once back in custody, Mr. White allegedly attacked three jailers inside the Young County Jail, resulting in three additional assault charges.

Chief Thames praised the quick action of bystanders who intervened during the first incident.

“We want to thank the citizens for seeing something wrong and doing what’s right,” she said, noting that at least 10 people had stopped to watch the altercation unfold.

As of Monday, Mr. White was being held in the Young County Jail on bonds totaling $225,000.

He faces charges of assault causing bodily injury, theft of property less than $2,500, resisting arrest or transport, and two counts of assault on a public servant, according to jail records.
