
Traviesos Restaurant Opens in Olney
Traviesos restaurant opened last week with a deep menu of Italian fare, and quickly was inundated with business, owner-operator Terrance Klande said.
Olney’s newest restaurant, at 1128 W. Main St., brings Mr. Klande’s 32 years of cooking experience in establishments like the Sheraton and Intercontinental hotels in Dallas and many smaller restaurants, including Traviesos in Azle and Slow Bone BBQ & Texmex in Mineral Wells.
Mr. Klande says he chose Olney because he noticed it had two BBQ, two Mexican and one country café restaurants and saw an opportunity that made sense, to bring something new and needed to the community.
Items on the menu will be pizza, pasta dishes and wings but expect a more upscale flavor – not your average pizza spot menu – because of the chef ’s background, food will be elevated but prices will not.
Prices are reasonable, with a large supreme pizza for $20 that can feed an entire family. Some pasta dishes include baked ziti, lasagna, fettuccine alfredo and many more. Seafood is on the menu as well with items like shrimp scampi, salmon picatta and more.
There is a kid’s menu as well featuring chicken tenders, corn dogs and more. Appetizers include Nene’s Meatballs, fried mozzarella sticks, garlic cheese bread and ten-piece wings with flavors to include buffalo, garlic parmesan, sweet chili, BBQ and lemon pepper later.
Chicken dishes include chicken marsala, chicken parmesan, chicken picatta and chicken florentine. Pizzas range from medium to large and from $14 to $21 with specialty pizzas and too many toppings to list.
Salads are also on the menu for those looking for a lighter lunch option. Mr. Klande will add more items as he tests out what works well with the equipment on hand and hopes to add a deep-dish pizza in the future after testing out the tastiest way to bring that option to the menu. Delivery will begin once a driver can be hired with a small delivery fee. The owner said he has received a warm Olney welcome since arriving in the community.
