Guild Displays Quilts at InterBank
Cross Timbers Stitchers guild displayed nine of their favorite quilts and three charity quilts in the lobby of Olney InterBank. Each member chose a quilt they had created.
The quilts are displayed in the following order, as one enters the bank and looks left to right: #1 Lucia Hartwell, #2 Kim Bishop, #3 Carlita Pemberton, #4 Lana McQuerry, #5 Roselee Craig, #6 Jeanie Spivey. The charity quilts are numbers 7-9. Mary Butler made # 10; Lana Ickert, #11; and #12 Barbara Cowart.
The display shows examples of simple and complex block design, rag quilt technique, use of panels with blocks, sewing curves, hand quilting, and machine quilting. The public is invited to view the quilts during banking hours.
The three charity quilts were made for the purpose of selling them to benefit local charities. The number 7 quilt is a colorful pieced design in Southwest colors measuring approximately 59 inches by 78 inches.
Number 8 is a blue and yellow quilt using solids and floral prints with flying geese blocks measuring approximately 66 inches by 80 inches. Number 9 is a patriotic quilt measuring approximately 60 inches by 70 inches.
Anyone interested in purchasing a quilt should call Mary Butler at 940564-6355.
