Centers v. McClatchey
The Enterprise asked incumbent Young County Tax Assessor Christy Center and write-in challenger Kendra Trammell McClatchey to explain to voters their qualifications and plans for the Assessor’s office.
Mrs. Centers has served as Tax Assessor- Collector for four years and worked under the prior tax assessor collector as a deputy clerk.
Mrs. Centers is a lifelong Graham native and has an applied science degree in legal assisting. She previously worked at United Supermarkets.
She is married and has three children -- Justin Dishman, Karissa and Kayla Scheriger -- as well as two stepdaughters Ella and Kadie Center as well as a grandson.
If she is re-elected, Mrs. Centers’ priorities are to keep the office of tax assessor-collector open during the lunch hour and continue to operate a drive-thru at the new County Annex building.
The County Tax Assessor- Collector handles vehicle and boat registration and titling, disabled placards, and specialty license plates.
Mrs. Centers is overseeing the state-mandated conversion of a new system that will allow vehicle dealerships to process license plate paperwork faster and online, she said.
Sbe also has created a full-time position in the Olney office, up from a part-time position, and enabled credit card capability in all offices.
