Sen. Drew Springer holds Oct. 15 Town Hall at Olney Heritage Museum

Texas Sen. Drew Springer will make his final appearance in Young County before he retires from office at the Olney Heritage Museum on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.

Sen. Springer will hold a town hall-style meeting with constituents to discuss his tenure in the Texas House and Senate and preview the upcoming legislative session, which begins on Jan. 14, 2025.

Sen. Springer announced last November that he would not seek re-election, saying he plans to return to his hometown in Weatherford to helm the family financial planning and money management business when his father steps back in 2025.

Sen. Springer will have served 12 years as a state lawmaker when he leaves office in January. He won his Texas House seat in 2013 and served on term in the state Senate.

In a statement announcing his retirement from public office, Sen. Springer expressed his gratitude to his family for their sacrifices, as well as his “immense pride” in championing “conservative values and policies that matter to constituents and myself.”

Among those values were “defending the Second Amendment, promoting prolife principles, advocating for economic development, enhancing education, supporting our first responders, ensuring fiscal responsibility or advancing pro-business policies.”

Republican candidate Brent Hagenbuch and Democrat Dale Frey are competing for Sen. Springer’s seat.

Sen. Springer has endorsed Mr. Hagenbuch.
