Out with the Old & In with the New

What a fantastic year we experienced in 2023. As we selected the best stories from last year, I was reminded of how blessed we are to be part of this community. I am incredibly fortunate to have an excellent team to cover the stories that matter most. Also, I am grateful for our columnists and all the writers who submit content to make our newspaper the talk of the town.

We publish our annual Year in Review issues to remind you of the highlights—the year’s roses and thorns. Seeing our community summarized in photos and captions is always a treat. These issues make excellent keepsakes, so drop by the office if you want an extra copy, which we will have available for two weeks following As we tuck away our memories from 2023, we can look forward to a delightful new year. We want even more community involvement, so if you’ve ever wanted to be part of the newspaper, now is the time to get involved by sending your inquiry to editor@olneyenterprise. com.

In addition to publishing the weekly newspaper, we plan to roll out new episodes of the Olney Town Talk news show and a limited series podcast to expound on the stories we write. We will broadcast breaking news as well. Please continue to tell us about the essential things to you so we can expand our investigative journalism facet.

Many know the Perry’s Foundation owns the Olney Enterprise newspaper and Olney Heritage Museum. The Perry’s Foundation is a nonprofit, private family foundation with a 501(c)3 status. The profits we generate from ad sales and subscriptions are redirected to the foundation and allocated to various community projects through grants and donations. Your support is a blessing.

My goal in writing this article is to let you know that we appreciate your involvement and support via ads, subscriptions, and volunteerism. We hope to provide you with a newspaper you can be proud of in our small town. As we continue to work tirelessly to preserve the history of Olney, we encourage you to visit the newspaper and the museum Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. We are closed for lunch from noon until 1 p.m.

So, out with the old and in with the new. Have a Happy New Year!
