

Candidates file for County, State offices
Seven candidates have entered the Texas Senate District 30 race to replace retiring Sen. Drew Springer, and three will compete for the Precinct 3 seat of retiring County Commissioner Stacey Rogers.
The 30th District stretches from the North Dallas suburbs to the Oklahoma state line. Sen. Springer, who owns a financial services firm in Weatherford with his father, served only one term in the state Senate after defeating Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther in a 2020 special election. He was elected to the Texas House in 2013.
Four Republicans and three Democrats have filed for the District 30 Senate seat. The races will be decided at the March 5 primary election.
The state Senate candidates are: Cody Clark (Republican) is a former Denton police officer who lives in Aubrey with his wife, Shelly, and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Clark co-founded Avid Quality Care, which helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities find residential placements and get their medical and therapeutic needs met, according to his campaign website.
Carrie De Moor (Republican) is an emergency room physician who lives in Frisco with her husband and three school-age children. Dr. De Moor was raised in Mesquite, graduated from Southern Methodist University, and attended Texas Tech Health Science Center. She specialized in Emergency Medicine, according to her campaign website.
Brent Hagenbuch (Republican) is the former Denton County Republican Party chairman, a U.S. Navy veteran, and owner and CEO of Titus Transport. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the Navy for nearly nine years. He also received Master’s degrees in engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Stanford University. He worked for PepsiCo and McKinsey & Co., according to his LinkedIn profile. He is endorsed by Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
Jace Yarbrough (Republican) is an attorney and U.S. Air Force veteran. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his juris doctor from Stanford University Law School. He worked at the law firms Baker Botts and Quinn Emmanuel before starting his own law practice, according to his LinkedIn profile. He served as counsel to Sen. Angela Paxton, wife of Attorney General Ken Paxton, and lives in Denton with his wife Elizabeth. They have four children and one on the way, his campaign website said.
Dale Frey (Democrat) is a web developer assigned to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency. He lives in The Colony, according to his Facebook profile. Mr. Frey graduated from George Mason University and worked at the Department of Education in Washington D.C. and the U.S. Geological Survey before moving to Texas with his wife, a native Texan.
