High school band preparing halftime show

The Pride of Olney High School marching band has begun work on its new space-themed marching performance entitled “To the Heavens” with choreography by Josh Shaw and music by Dallas Bayless. The show is composed of four parts, entitled “Looking Up”, “Antigravity”, “Among the Stars”, and “The Infinite Beyond.”

The band is led by junior drum major Lily Thames and senior drum major Makayla Torres.

“I think the band has a chance of making it to state,” Thames said. “I thought that the past years as well; however, this year I truly believe we have a chance.”

The band has its first festival at Bulldog Stadium in Burkburnett on Saturday, Sept. 29, with its specific performance time still to be set. UIL Region 7 marching contest for the band takes place on Oct. 12 at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
