District play begins for Lady Cubs

The Olney Varsity Lady Cubs Volleyball team has been off to a rough start in district. On Saturday, Sept. 23, the Lady Cubs competed against Windthorst but lost in three sets, 25-10, 25-10, and 25-6.

The same day in a double header, the Lady Cubs fell to Woodson in three sets, 25-17, 25-17, and 25-19.

Senior Morgan Casteel feels the team started off on a good note, but still has some things to work on.

“I feel like we did really good things in the beginning of the games but we need to improve our mindsets and outlook on the game to continue going well throughout the whole game; instead of breaking down and giving up after simple mistakes,” Casteel said.

Casteel agreed the team had some good moments during the games as well.

“We came out ready to play in the beginning and had a lot of energy; we were excited to play and we worked well together,” Casteel stated.

One of the Lady Cubs Volleyball coaches, Haily Clark, announced that the players are preparing for a game against Quanah.

“The Lady Cubs have been working hard to get ready for their second district game against Quannah,” Clark explained. “The Lady Cubs would love your support on their next home game against Quanah on Oct. 16.”
