Graham, County OK BYOB for town square concerts
The City of Graham and Young County Commissioners have approved the consumption of alcohol in the Graham Town Square for a summer concert series.
The concerts, sponsored by the Graham Concert Association, are free to the public. The four remaining concerts start at 8 p.m. and attendees are now free to bring their own alcohol or buy it from vendors in the square, thanks to an ordinance passed by the Graham City Council and approved by the Commissioners Court at its June 12 meeting.
The performers include Green River Ordinance on July 1, Boy Named Banjo on July 15, Uncle Lucius on July 29, and Gary P. Nunn on Aug. 12.
“It was a big success with the Food Truck Competition,” Assistant City Manager Grant Ingram told the Commissioners, adding that local police made no arrests at the event and would be present at the concerts. “If you’re going to act a fool, you’re going to have a problem.”
Graham Convention and Visitors Bureau director Cathy Partridge said in case of rain the concerts will be moved to Graham Memorial Auditorium at Ms. Partridge also noted that Grazin’ Graham will prepare charcuterie boards for the concerts. Those interested in ordering can do so on the company’s Facebook page, she said.
