Megargel Mayor Hosts Meet and Greet
Megargel Mayor Missy Latham hosted a meet-andgreet at Mustang Hall to give residents a chance to meet the two candidates running for mayor on May 6.
The two candidates for Mayor are incumbent Missy Latham, who has held office for three years, and opponent Randall Williams. Mr. Williams bowed out of the event at the last minute to attend his grandson’s first birthday. Williams was briefly mayor of Megargel before quitting abruptly. Ms. Latham said she was interested in running for a second term to continue making improvements to Megargel. Ms. Latham has lived in Megargel for 15 years and previously lived in Pelican Bay where she was on the city council for eight years.
The City of Megargel holds a City Council meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at the City Hall at 902 Cedar St. in Megargel. The City Council comprises four members and has three seats filled with one seat open.
Ms. Latham’s latest project is a food pantry that will be having a grand opening on May 13. Ms. Latham and other organizers worked diligently to acquire donations and hold fundraisers to get the food pantry off the ground. Ms. Latham helped organize a recent Easter celebration at Megargel Park that many residents enjoyed. The next big city event will be the Fourth of July celebration at the park.
