Well, here we are over halfway through October. Crisp mornings often call for a jacket to stop the shivers, but that’s okay since we are knee-deep in autumn. November is peeking over the horizon, bringing Thanksgiving festivities closer. Turkey and dressing generously covered with giblet gravy and accompanied with plenty of cranberry sauce is a feast made for kings and queens. So consider yourself royalty and dig in!
Speaking of Thanksgiving, the Edward’s Street turkey has been sighted. Yes, she’s still hanging around. On the 14th, a flock of 12 turkey hens were seen a few miles south of Spain Road. At first glance, I thought it was a bunch of buzzards on the road looking for road kill, but it was turkeys! Maybe the are looking for hiding spots since gobble day is getting closer.
Be especially watchful when those trick-or-treating youngsters are seeking those treats. Sometimes, when the excitement level is high, those kiddos forget to look before they sprint across the street, so it’s up to us to ensure their safety. Drive cautiously.
Edward Furr asked me to go look at the flowers on Spain Road and tell him what their name is. They are Rudbeckia Hirta or also known as Brown-eyed Susans. Each stalk has a profusion of flowers, so they are a very colorful show. Thanks Edward for pointing me that beautiful sight.

Here’s hoping you hay fever sufferers survive this onslaught and your noses don’t get too red! Maybe we can audition for Rudolph’s role come Christmas time! Just thinking ahead!
