
Family Reunion Update The Smithwicks
The 28th H.O. Smithwick Annual Family Reunion was held August 5-7, at the Tanglewood Resort Hotel and Conference Center at Lake Texoma.
On Friday, family members arrived and enjoyed fishing, swimming, visiting and an evening meal. On Saturday morning, some members enjoyed golfing at the Tanglewood Golf Course. Others enjoyed visiting and swimming.
Saturday afternoon, the newest and soon-to-be newest family members were honored with a baby shower. The newest family member was Landrie Pugleisi, born on April 20, daughter of Brittany and Joe Pugleisi. Soon to be the newest member, Eleanor Tillett, due on September 27, to Meredith and Ryan Tillett. A wedding Christmas shower was also held to honor newlyweds Blake and Heaven Gray who were married on June 17, and Landon Inge and Lauren De-Hoyos who will marry on November 12. Families also enjoyed taking family pictures during this time by the traditional Smithwick Family Reunion banner.
On Saturday evening, family members enjoyed a meal at Frank’s Restaurant in Pottsboro. Dessert included a decorated cake honoring family members with decade birthdays, anniversaries and family graduates.
Birthdays honored were Grace Carnley and Makenzie Thrasher (20 yrs.), Landon Inge, Garrett Carnley, Tyler Carnley and Ross Culp (30 yrs.), David Bridgers (40 yrs.), Howard McDaris (60 yrs.) and Keith Holloway (70 yrs.). Anniversary honorees were Al and Dianne Carnley (30 yrs.). The 2022 High School Graduate was Harper Culp of Gunter High School. 2022 College Graduates honored were Jonathan Halfmann of Southeastern Oklahoma State University (B.S. Occupational Safety and Health), Lauren DeHoyos of Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (Master’s of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling) and Grace Carnley (MCT) United States Marine Corps.
The meal was concluded with the taking of the favorite family group photo with several family members missing including those who are currently serving our country in the United States Marine Corps (Grace Carnley), the United States Air Force (Christopher Ciaccio) and the United States Army (Steele Culp and Harper Culp). Members completed Saturday evening playing games and visiting.
