The OHS Class of 1962 had a reunion coinciding with the Olney in America celebration June 30. Our homebase was the Hometown Coffee and Tea where we ate a great lunch and scanned through yearbooks and scrapbooks. We then set off for a tour of Main Street.

Our first stop on Main Street was the Olney Heritage Museum, which turned into a favorite. We then reminisced at Olney Hardware about past town characters. The next stop was a new store Archer and Gunn Mercantile. This store was impressive and had BB-guns, clothing and slingshots among the items sold.

We ventured off Main Street and met at Spivey’s Grocery Store on S. Avenue C, or I should say the façade of the old store. One of the school buses would stop in the afternoon and children would pile out quickly to grab a coke, ice cream or candy for the ride home.

The next stop was the Olney Country Club for more food, music and fireworks. A good time was had by all.
