Man arrested at Olney Allsups pleads guilty to drug charges, 35 year sentence
A 57-year-old Graham resident arrested on drug charges at an Olney convenience store was sentenced to a 35-year state prison term after pleading guilty to drug charges on the second day of his trial.
Harold Gene Blunt pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver 4 grams or more, but less than 200 grams of methamphetamine, district attorney Dee Peavy said in a statement.
Blunt was arrested during a traffic stop Feb. 2, 2021, at 11:20 p.m. at the Allsup’s Convenience Store at 401 West Main St. in Olney, according to testimony by Young County Deputy Josh Gallardo.
Graham Police K-9 Officer Hailey Calcote and her partner, Wolf, were requested to conduct a free air sniff around Blunt’s vehicle. Wolf alerted to the presence of illegal drugs, and a search of the vehicle turned up 11.5 grams of methamphetamine along with 1.2 grams of heroin and 51 pills later identified as Diazepam. The officers also recovered seven unused syringes, multiple baggies used to distribute illegal narcotics, a police scanner, and other paraphernalia that supported an intent to deliver charge. Harold Blunt was placed under arrest that evening.
Blunt entered a guilty plea to Judge Stephen Bristow and waived his rights to appeal all aspects of the prosecution and trial proceedings.
