Olney Chamber Hosts Quarterly Luncheon
On March 31st, the Olney Chamber of Commerce held their first quarterly luncheon of 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Olney in the fellowship hall. With 43 people in attendance, the Chamber had the largest number of people at any of their quarterly lunch events. Having an increase in memberships and new businesses coming to Olney, the Chamber is hopeful that this is just the beginning of growth and heightened activity for the organization.
The sponsor of this event was Spirit of Texas Ranch, which is located in Newcastle. Greg and Anneta Buenger, the owners of the ranch, were in attendance. Several new members showed up to the luncheon - Laci Tate of 3T Meats, Eric Loggins of Rockin’ L Land Services, and Realtor - Callie Hicks, along with her Broker, Bob Brooker of Brooker Real Estate. Olney Chamber’s executive director, Deidre Brown introduced the guest speaker, Mayor Rue Rogers. Rogers gave an update on current city employees, filled guests in on the latest news with the water treatment facility plans, and spoke about upcoming projects here in Olney, including cleaning up the tire shop and all of the tires left on the unsightly property right off of Main Street. The event was seamlessly catered by Hometown Coffee and Tea.
Names were drawn for the door prizes which were plants from the outdoor section of 3T Meats. There are fresh plants and flowers delivered every Friday, giving Olney a local place to purchase plants for their home and gardens.
Deidre says she is looking forward to the next luncheon, which will be held in June of 2022. Members and member businesses’ representatives are welcome to attend. Invitations are sent out via email to those who are signed up for a Chamber of Commerce membership. Individual memberships are only $50 a year and are a great way to support the community as well as to stay involved with other members of the community and local businesses.
