Sr. Cub Center Chats
Notice how the weeds have shot up since that rain last week? Some have reached halfway to the knees already! Grass on steroids will require mowing pretty soon-get ready, Homer!
Birthday Thursday on the 24th came, the cake arrived, but no birthday people came. Sorry, you missed a very colorful cake, but the diners did enjoy indulging in that sweet confection! Happy birthday, even though you couldn’t come. Maybe next year.
Spring has sprung, as the saying goes. Some early bloomers are popping open to add some much-desired color to the landscape, and the sandals have emerged from the closet. Not to get overly excited just yet- that Easter cold snap is waiting to pounce on us just around the corner. Oh, well, those colorful eggs are easier to find in the snow!
The tribute to Vietnam Veterans will be history as of this writing. The Center entertained those veterans and their spouses on the 29th with food, “Piano Man” music, and special recognition from the VFW. What a privilege to honor them for their service! Thank you, veterans!
Have you ever engaged in swapping fish stories? Some have been known to ‘stretch’ the actual size (be sure to watch their fingers as they spread their hands to show how long that prize fish was). The weather app on my phone posted a picture of a sturgeon caught by a man in Canada. That thing was 10 feet long and estimated to be about 100 years old. I want no part in catching anything that big! Thank goodness that monstrous ancient fish was released back into its habitat.
Please remember our communities near us who suffered from the recent tornadoes, as well as those cities throughout “tornado alley” that were pounded by those twisters bent on destruction. Remember to find a space away from windows if you are caught in the path of a tornado, and you must shelter in your home. An interior closet or bathroom may offer protection from flying debris.
Remember that no prized possession is worth more than your life!
Life is uncertain. Enjoy every minute of every day. Visit with your friends. Tell them how much they mean to you. Hug them, laugh with them, and even cry with them if need be. Just spend ‘time,’ our most precious commodity, with them.
Come to the Center and make new friends or renew old friendships. Come swap yarns and make memories with us. If your day turns gray, just plaster a big smile on your face and make your own sunshine to chase the gloom away. Have a great week!
