OHS students to compete in UIL for One Act Play ‘Mrs. Packard’

The Olney High School [OHS] One Act Play [OAP] season is underway, and the residents of Olney were treated to a dress rehearsal by the OHS Troupe Sunday, March 6.

Emily Mann wrote the play titled “Mrs. Packard,” and the OAP Director, Cassie Johnson, had the cast and crew running smoothly, resulting in a fantastic show at Sunday’s performance.

The synopsis of the play, according to Johnson, is set in Illinois, 1861. “Without proof of insanity, Elizabeth Packard, played by Brie Hagle, is committed to an asylum by her husband (Rodolfo Arce). Based on historical events, Emily Mann’s play tells of one woman’s struggle to right a system gone wrong. With a cast full of support and a very evil nurse (Natalie DelVillar), Will we see Mrs. Packard overcome Dr. McFarland (Aidyn Bitner) and her husband, or will evil prevail.”

The cast and crew of the play included Dr. Duncanson: Sarah Roach, Dr. McFarland: Aidyn Bitner, Theophilus Packard: Rodolfo Arce, Mrs. Bonner: Adelade Edgington, Elizabeth Packard: Brie Hagle, Mrs. Dole: Makayla Torres, Mrs. Chapman: Natalie DelVillar, Mrs. Stockton: Mallory Jeske, Sara Rumsey: Kylie Lewis, Dr. Knott/Attendant-Peyton Kulhanek, Mrs. Tenney: Brooke Orsak, Dr. Brown/Mr. Blackman: Brodie Hagle, Crazy Ensembles: Lexi Paul, Jaylee Carr, Sarah Roach, Galilea Marquez, Lights: Allison House, Sound: Allie Barrington, Stage Manager: Ellie Hinson, Extra: Sarah Green, Josh Prentice and Directed by: Cassie Johnson.
