“Free from the law”
“ The Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.”
Romans 4:15 NASBS
It is quite certain that those whom the Father has given to His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, He will not lose one of them, but will raise them up on the last day. For it is for these that Jesus was sent into the world to make restitution for their sins. He did this by taking to Himself flesh, being tempted in every way as a man, yet without sin, going to the cross and paying the debt that all humanity owed to God. The scriptures tell us, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.” By doing this Jesus freed all who come to Him from the bondage of the law that held them in the chains of captivity which condemned them to everlasting hell, for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation. How gracious it was for Jesus to fulfill the perfect demands of God’s law that hovered over us like a violent storm that was ready to destroy us at any time. But not only did He fulfill the perfect demands of the Law for all whom He would draw to Himself, but He also imputed to them His perfect righteousness, declaring them Holy in the sight of God the Father. So rest assured reader, whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.
Therefore, reader, if you are in Christ, then Jesus has washed you in His precious blood and you will no longer be judged as culprits or criminals, but by love as sons and daughters of the Great King. Seek desperately to understand the freedom of this. Christ has forever taken away all your sins in a legal sense, so that you no longer stand condemned, for you are once for all accepted in the Beloved. So do not rely upon church traditions, baptism, communion, church membership, or any other ceremonial observances as a means by which you might think you are justified in the eyes of God the Father. These things are of great importance within the local body of believers and show evidence of saving faith, but if you are relying upon them for justification, then you will be eternally lost when you pass from this life to that which is to come. And please do not run to the opposite end and believe that you can do whatever you want because Christ has acquitted you from the law. You must understand that saving faith produces in your deepest affections a longing for holiness that corresponds perfectly with God’s Holy word. So internally we agree with the law in the inner man and long to keep it out of love. I beg you to hear and obey the word of God, “Do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
May the Holy Spirit guide you into all righteousness, so that you may walk in the freedom the Gospel offers you in Jesus Christ.
