

Olney Cubs Tame the Electra Tigers
On Oct. 22, the Olney Cubs traveled to Electra to battle the Tigers in a divisional game. The Cubs recovered from the loss against Seymour and showed up in Electra firing on all 8-cylinders. The Cubs dominated both Offense and Defense and came away with a divisional win against the Tigers, 49-14.
The following are highlights from the four quarters of play.
The First-quarter, #22 Jovani Rockmore scored 6 with a 2 Yd Run. Rockmore was good for a run-in for a Two-Point Conversion. Tigers failed to score in first-quarter play.
The second quarter had the Cub offense methodically pushing through the Tiger defense, pressing down the field ending with a 2-yard run in by #5 Gatlin Guy and a successful extra-point kick from #21 Cole Turner. However, the Tigers’ offense fell flat after receiving the ball, and Cubs’ offense took over. #5 Guy had an explosive breakaway run for 85 yards ending in a Cubs touchdown and another successful extra point kick by #21 Turner. After the Tigers’ offense failed to answer back, the Cubs took over, scoring another 6 points by #22 Rockmore and an extra point kick by #21 Turner bringing an end to the first half with the Cubs 29-Tigers 0.
The Cubs began the second half by releasing the offensive receivers; #5 Guy completed a 30-yard pass to #21 Turner that ended in 6-points, #21 Turner had a successful extra-point kick. The Tigers came out of the locker room with a new purpose and began to find success with a 53-yard reception by Austin Callis good for six and an extra point kick to make it 7. The Cubs’ offense pushed down the field to set up a field goal for #21 Turner, whose leg was good enough at 36-yards. The third quarter ended, with the Cubs leading the Tigers 39-7.
The fourth quarter began with JV making an appearance, relieving some varsity players to rest up for the next game. #32 Jacob Hernandez pushed through defenders scoring on a 6-yard run, finished off by #21 Turner kicking in the Extra point. #3 AB Marquez was back after recovering from an injury and kicked a 26-yard field goal good for 3. The Tigers caught the Cubs asleep late in the fourth quarter when the Tigers had an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown. After running down the clock late in the fourth quarter, the Cubs took victory formation to end the game, beating the Tigers 49-14. Fight on, Cubs!!!
