Underneath His Arms
What an honor it is for those who are in Christ to be carried across the threshold of death and brought into eternal life. Poor pilgrims such as I can journey across this sinful land with full assurance that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us, for the eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are His everlasting arms. Though many times we look back into our past, we see only one set of footprints, rest assured beloved, you have never been alone. The Lord is a great King and a mighty warrior, who can be compared to Him? His all-seeing eyes never sleep nor slumber; He is always attentive and He fights for those whom He loves. He rides upon the clouds of heaven; He scales the highest of all the mountain tops; He clinches the wind in His fist as He calls forth the lightning bolt to flash across the sky. He descends into the deepest parts of the ocean to gaze upon the sea creatures yet unknown to the human mind, and He commands the armies of heaven that are not seen by the human eye. Though you did not know Him, He knew you before you were ever born, and He chose to cast His divine affection upon you while you were not even born. Who can understand such wisdom, for truly it exceeds all human intellect?
Lonely travelers, as we make our way through this world to the Kingdom, which is to come, anticipating the moment when we will cast our eyes upon the One Who shed His blood for our sins, rest in Him. Jesus is the eternal God Who is your dwelling place, and under you are His everlasting arms. Though your pathway may seem crooked, though the frailty of your flesh is growing weak, though the sufferings of this present body are hard to endure, and your eyes may be fading, lean upon Him with all your many needs. He loves to avail His grace to you and to strengthen your feebleness with His almighty power. He longs to hear your voice call out his name. So, in all your trembling, sink into His everlasting arms, they will not fail you. The scriptures tell us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.“ May the grace of God be with you beloved.
