OCLAC Pet Show
A sunny warm day with a light breeze was the stage for the 42nd Annual Pet Show.
This outdoor summer event happened at the Olney Community Library on Thursday, June 10.
Tables, chairs and traffic cones were delivered and set up on site by Homer Molina and the Building and Grounds crew of Olney ISD. High School’s Coach Guy, offered his tents to keep us comfortable. A big thank you to Building and Grounds for tent set-up and pick-up after the event as well.
Pets were brought to the library to be “judged” by Obelea Rue, Calli Simmons and Autumn Schoonover, they were assessed and then given a certificate describing a fun feature. Salt Creek Veterinary Hospital came to administer rabies shots with Dr. Miriah Fischer, DVM for a small cost. Holly Hawkins, Olney’s Animal Control officer, was available to sell city tags for dogs and cats. Joining us for this event were officers D. Hurd and D. Burdeck from the Olney Police Department. Inside the library, children had a chance to make an animal thumbprint bookmark, get a free book and a Pet Show bracelet while pets and their owners waited outside. Thank you to Rebecca Esparza for helping with the craft.
