It’s that time of year again that I always look forward to. Fishing season - for me anyways. Not that there is a fishing season like there is a deer season. For me, Fishing season is always when the weather goes from winter to spring and before summer gets too hot.
Although I didn’t get to deer hunt, or even make time to go fishing last year, I am determined to get in as much fishing as possible this year before mid-summer. I have enjoyed fishing ever since I was knee-high. It is one of the few good memories I have with my father. Between my two brothers and me, we would take turns each year going to fishing tournaments with my Dad. I didn’t care for getting up before the sun back then, but always had a blast out on the lake hunting those bass down. The fish fry was always fun as well at the end of the tournament.
I feel really lucky to have a wife who loves to fish. She loves fishing more then I do in fact. I do take some ribbing about how I don’t really care if I catch a fish or not. I have known how to clean and cook fish ever since I was knee-high as well. For me, as I have gotten older, I found I just love the relaxing qualities of fishing more then the actual catching and cooking of the fish.
Nothing quite as relaxing as setting back on the bank, throwing a line in and just watching the day go by. If I do happen to catch a fish, well that’s good as well. I really enjoy traditions and glad that I have made this a tradition to look forward to each year with my wife. What traditions do you enjoy?
This is Will B. putting the gone fishing sign on the door, maybe I will see you at the lake sometime. If I happen to be napping, please do not disturb!
