My Nickel’s Worth

My Nickel’s Worth

God’s timing

A few weeks ago, Whitnie and I visited a new church in Tulsa. We had tried a few other churches previously but wanted to find a church that fit us and our beliefs.

After visiting this last church, we knew it is where we are supposed to be. We met the senior pastor right as we walked in the door and everyone was so welcoming. People in the church were immediately asking us about ourselves and if we had any questions about the church. Then, we entered the sanctuary for worship and after the service, we both knew that this is where God wants us to be. As we were leaving, we met a few of the couples that are around our age and they were so nice and made us feel at home.

Later in the week, one of the guys I had met invited me to join his church league basketball team. I had missed playing basketball so much and I had been wondering how I could play but I wasn’t sure how. Out of nowhere, he invited me to join the team---we didn’t even discuss sports when I met him, but it just seemed that God made all of this happen. There are a million churches in the Tulsa area, and I had been praying that the Lord would give me clarity on which church to attend. Sure enough, everything worked out in God’s perfect timing.

As I have been able to step back and think about it, God had answered our prayers to find a good church home, and to be able to make new friends along the way. I truly believe that the Lord gives us the desires of our heart, and he answered our prayers in his timing! Proverbs 3: 5-6 has always been of my favorite verses, which states to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
