The beginning of this month marked one year since I started my job at the Olney Enterprise. I have been employed with many different types of jobs in the past, but none as rewarding and fun as this one. If you know me well, you know I love computers, love writing and love reading. What better job to have for all those loves than working at a newspaper?
Right before I was offered this position, I was going through an inner battle with myself. Most of my jobs in the past were as a certified nurse aide and sadly after ten years in this field, I had let my license lapse. I was worried that I would not find a decent job again. I was worried that if I did find a job, I would have to work a different shift than my husband and would hardly get to see him. I was worried I would find a job and fall into my old habits. I was struggling with myself and my thoughts, and I was not trusting God in all things.
A few days before I interviewed for the position, a friend told me to be still and trust that God will provide what I need when HE sees fit and according to HIS will. And boy, was she right. I let go and was blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime. A job that I thoroughly enjoy, coworkers that I not only work with – I’m friends with and they are good role models, and the hours coincide with my husbands. Weekends off with him is the cherry on top. God is good.
I can’t wait to see what the next year of working here has in store. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun.
