Gov. Abbott lifts mask mandate

Gov. Abbott announced that he is lifting the statewide mask mandate effective March 10. Texas businesses will be fully reopened to 100 percent capacity, and resident will not be required to wear masks.

Although Gov Abbott is lifting the mask mandate, he emphasized the importance of continuing to take precaution against COVID-19.

“Removing state mandates does not end personal responsibility when it comes to caring for family, friends and the community,” Abbott said in a press release.

Senator Drew Springer concurs with Abbott’s agenda to lift the mandate, open businesses to full capacity and continue to be socially responsible for well-being and the community’s well-being.

“It’s been a year since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Texas and we’ve seen incredible strides made to develop and administer a vaccine as well as better understand how to treat the virus. Texans are encouraged to keep up the good practices we’ve learned since the start of COVID like washing your hands and practicing respectful distances to stay healthy,” Springer said in a statement to the media.

“With the end of the statewide mask mandate and businesses reopening to 100 percent capacity, I’m hopeful that the Texas economy will be revitalized and fuel future growth.”
