Tiger Woods
One of the most polarizing athletes of all time--Tiger Woods, was recently in a horrific car accident that left him with two broken legs and a shattered ankle. It was such devastating news to the sports world and the golf world.
I grew up watching Tiger play golf when I was a kid, all the way up until now. Watching Tiger Woods play on a Sunday afternoon for a chance to win is one of the most entertaining sporting events to watch.
Tiger won 14 majors from 1997-2008 and transcended the sport of golf. He made golf cool. He looked like an NFL Wide Receiver out on the golf course. I know he has had his fair share of problems in his personal life, but as an avid sports fan, I love watching greatness and Tiger is the definition of greatness.
What makes sports special are the connections we are able to make with the players, and the incredible stories and journeys we are able to watch. We all love stories that we relate and resonate with, and that’s what happened at the Masters in 2019. Tiger shocked the world once more. He had not won a major since 2008, and after years of hardships, struggles, and injuries, Tiger won the Masters in April of 2019 for his 15th major at the age of 43.
I am sad to think that we may never see him play competitive golf again, but more importantly, I am glad he is alive and is recovering. It’s a reminder that life can be taken from us at any moment. Life is a precious gift that God has given us, and we can never take that for granted. Who knows if we will ever see Tiger play in a golf tournament again, but I hope and pray that he makes a full recovery. Thanks for the memories Tiger!
