Love in the Air

Love in the Air

With Valentine’s day just around the corner I just can’t help but get excited. I am a romantic at heart and not one bit afraid to admit it. I always treat my wife like a queen on this day. Not because I might get in trouble if I don’t, I do it because I love to spoil her most days and especially so on Valentine’s day.

I first met my wife at work. We both worked for Colters BBQ in Fort Worth (which is no longer there). It’s now a jewelry store! Irony comes to mind. She, a newly hired cashier, and I believe I was a meat cutter at the time. I walked around the corner that afternoon and was met by the biggest, prettiest blue eyes I had ever seen. It was love at first sight for me. Some don’t believe in love at first sight, but if it happens to you, then you will be a believer.

This is usually the part of a love story - or movie - where the man tries to work up the courage all day (or week) to ask the lady out. I was not nervous at all. That is saying a lot, because I am (or was) one shy person back then, Painfully so! I was not nervous at all and very calm. I just had this confidence that she would say yes! And she did!

After some conversation, I found out some things she enjoyed. Bowling was big with her family. So, our first date began with bowling. To be honest, that part of the date was a blur. Although I was not nervous to ask her out, I was very nervous at the start of the date. I did not want to blow it. After bowling we sat in the car of the parking lot and spent a couple hours talking. She told me she loved to sing, and I asked her to sing me a song. My heart belonged to her as she sang to me.

After a few more stops on our date we ended in front of her home. We parked and talked for a couple more hours I am guessing, after we kissed, I said my good nights and drove home. As soon as I got home, I called her and we talked all night long. The next day at work proved to be quite the task for both of us, having had very little sleep. This went on for weeks as we fell deeper and deeper for each other.

That first date was on Sept. 4, 1996 and we were married a year later, on Aug. 3, 1997. This September will make 25 years of ups and downs, but always love. No one said marriage would be easy. It takes work, fights, make ups, passionate dates, boring evenings after work watching T.V., sadness, happiness and most importantly God. Through the years my love for my wife has grown deeper and fuller and I could not even imagine life without her to share the memories with - good and bad.

This is Will B. saying I will love you always and forever Amanda!
