My Nickel’s Worth
In life, things are constantly changing, but while change is always occurring, some things never change. I have had many changes in my life the past few years, as well as changes in the world around me.
I went from college to my first fulltime job here at the Olney Enterprise, my fiancée Whitnie, started medical school last year, my parents have changed jobs a few times and this is now my mom’s 5th year working as an English teacher at Olney ISD at the high school, and my Dad’s 3rd year at Olney ISD as the director of technology, as well as my sister is now in college
attending Oklahoma State after graduating from Newcastle. Not to mention the new normal that has occurred due to this pandemic--masks have become a part of our everyday lives and that is not something that I could have ever imagined. But through all of this change, some things remain the same...which always gives me a safety net no matter what changes in life.
I can always rely on Whitnie and my family to be there for me--in the good times and bad. And even though life is constantly changing, God stays the same. We all have things in life that we can turn to. For me, that is being able to come home to my parents house and have a home-cooked meal--or going to my nana and papa’s house where we have a Sunday lunch with my aunt, uncle and cousins. I have attended many different churches in my life but through it all, I have always been able to come back to FBC Grandfield my entire life, and I know it will always be that way. And when I discuss change, much of it is good change.
It’s change that God has put in place for my life and I am so blessed to be in the position that I am today. While things change, other things stay the same---never take that for granted.
