Sports Are Back
Sports are back! As of today, the four major sports in America will begin with Major League Baseball kicking off their season tonight at 6 p.m. with the World Series Champion Washington Nationals facing the New York Yankees.
This is an exciting time for baseball fans to say the least, waiting for the start of the new season since the 2019 season ending at the end of October. This was the first year in almost a century that baseball has not been played on Independence Day but it is better late than never for a sport that nets 10 billion dollars in revenue every season. This season in baseball sets up a sprint to the finish line with only a 60 game season compared to the usual 162 game season. This will set fans up for one of the most unpredictable and unprecedented seasons in MLB history--with every game having almost three times the importance.
One week from today, the NBA basketball season will return with the best 22 teams in the league set to finish an 8-game regular season set forth by the commissioner before the playoffs begin. The NBA Finals will occur in the beginning of October, being the first time in the history of the NBA that the finals were not played in June. The World Series will be played only TWO weeks after the NBA finals begins, setting up for an unbelievable fall that will have sports fans certainly getting their fill.
The NFL and college football seasons will also be going on during this time and could set up for the Texas-Oklahoma game in the Red River Rivalry, an NBA Finals game, and MLB postseason game all on the same day. It is going to be a wild few months as we will have all major sports back in action at the same time in under two months, not including college football, which is arguably the second most popular sport in America behind the NFL.
Gear up sports fan, there will be much to watch beginning today!
