My Nickel’s Worth
Pizza. I LOVE pizza! My first pizza was a frozen Schwan’s truck pizza when I was about two. My Nana kept them in her freezer, and I loved them. We also had a place called Patman’s Pizza, in Walters, Oklahoma, which had the best pizza. Giant slices with fresh mozzarella. I was sad when we moved to Harrah, Ok, when I was in first grade. In elementary school, we lived close to a Little Caesar’s Pizza place. I loved Sunday nights when we picked up pizza after church. On special occasions we drove to Choctaw, Oklahoma and had Mazzio’s Pizza! My favorites were always cheese and pepperoni. In Graham, during Junior High and High School, we ate Domino’s and Vetoni’s Pizza. My mom made french bread pizzas, and I ate my share of Tony’s frozen pizza too. Now that I work in Olney, I enjoy the pizza here as well, and I like to go to Hideaway Pizza when I visit my Fiancée in Tulsa.
I have also eaten pizza in Paris, France and London, England. I have eaten pizza in Hawaii, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, San Antonio, and at Disney World. But, there is one place I have eaten Pizza that was the best pizza I have ever experienced--for me is John’s Pizzeria in Times Square: Thin, crispy New York Style Pizza with a mild sauce and piles of cheese. The slices are eaten, folded in half, and come from a brick oven. The restaurant is a converted church, and the atmosphere is a busy Manhattan. Everyone likes a different kind of pizza. This one is my favorite, and I am an expert on pizza.
If I can’t go to NYC, I still like to find myself in my Nana’s kitchen, eating a little Schwann’s pizza and following that with a glass of Dr. Pepper or Sprite! You might find me eating a pizza from Subway or picking up a pizza at Lone Star Pizza or Circle K. All great choices!
But, if I am ever in Manhattan, you can be sure, I will wait two hours to eat at John’s--and will always be thankful for pizza.
