Obituary: Eileen Reid Hilton

Eileen Reid Hilton, age 97, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Harrell Braddock, Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Eileen was born on February 20, 1922 in Electra, Texas to the late Willis Clay Reid and Anna Laura (Bishop) Reid. She graduated as valedictorian from Megargel High School on May 19, 1939. The following day she and Lowell Hilton were married. After her marriage, Eileen resided in Olney where she worked at Perkins-Timberlake as a bookkeeper until Lowell joined the Army during World War II. She joined him at Fort Hood and later Pasa Robles, California, where she remained until he went overseas. She moved back to Megargel and lived with her parents and worked at the Megargel Post Office until Lowell returned. They moved to Olney, and she worked as a bookkeeper for their business, Olney Fuel and Supply. Eileen was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also hosted and attended Bible studies with her Christian friends most of her adult life.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Thomas Reid Hilton, and a great-grandson, Luke Shaun Hilton.

Eileen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ginger McWhorter Hilton of Olney; granddaughter, Gretchen Hilton Mafi and husband Jeff Mafi of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandson, Jeff Hilton and wife Jessica Berry Hilton of Olney; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Hilton and Dillon Hilton, both of Olney; and two sisters, Betty Jo Livingston of Megargel and Bobby Wright of Olney.
