Meeting Highlights Young County Commissioner’s Court

July 8, The Young County Commissioners Court was called to order. The following are highlights from the meeting:

Minutes from the June 24 were approved unanimously. No action was taken from the Treasurer’s financial report and no budget amendments were discussed.

A bond of $5,000 for Darrell Gilmore for Young County Community Supervision & Corrections passed with unanimous vote.

Approval of reimbursements for AG Extension Agents Justin Rogers of $1,831.26 and Penny Berend of 1,656.76 was approved, and it was noted that were a lot of great programs going on the past couple of months with the AG Department.

The request for reimbursement for the Historical Commissions for $25.42 from June 2 and $417.51 for June 28 was approved unanimously.

The Sheriff ’s Office reported that the monthly daily average population of the county jail was at 58.

A discussion was had to consider and Interlocal Agreement for 911 Public Safety answering point services between Nortex Regional Planning Commission and Young County. It was quickly approved unanimously.

After discussion on any burn bands that may be needed including discussion on fires during the Fourth of July celebration, it was decided that there was no need to impose any burning restrictions. It was noted  that fires were very few during fireworks being set off.

A budget presentation by Christopher D. Baron, Young County attorney and Jason Hearne, justice of the peace for Pct. 1 was made, but no action was taken. The budgets will be reviewed during the next few weeks in preparation for setting the tax rate.
