Olney City Council looks to the future, takes action to move the city forward

At a regular meeting of the Olney City Council on Monday, Oct. 22, the council discussed and approved several items that look to improve the city.

Items discussed included an expenditure of funds to meet obligation for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Grant funding for the rehabilitation of Runway 04/22 and replacement of airport lighting, and an expenditure of funds donated to the City of Olney from Air Tractor and Olney Industrial Development Corporation (OIDC) for TxDOT in conjunction with the Paving Rehabilitation Project at Olney Municipal Airport. Both of these items were unanimously approved by the council.

The council also unanimously approved an appraisal of the city shop, and re-appointed Aiport Advisory Committee members for a one-year term, including Robert Stark, Jim Hirsch, Frank Fischer, Dike Hamilton and Wiley Hughey.
