Arrests made in recent Olney car burglaries

Olney Chief Civilian Administrator Conny Clay and the Olney Police Department, along with the Texas StatePoliceDepartmentandtheYoung County Sherriff’s Office, recently made several arrests in connection with a string of car burglaries.

Although Clay recently joined the Olney Police Department, he has been busy, getting to work on ensuring the safety of the citizens of Olney.

On Aug. 23 at 402 W. Hamilton St.in Olney, three people were arrested in an afternoon raid. The initial lead came when the Olney Police Department received a call in regard to the alleged discharge of a firearm at the house. Clay said a search warrant was obtained previously.

Upon entering the home, Clay said the department confiscated several guns, drugs and other paraphernalia, and also recovered a bag containing reportedly stolen items from the car burglaries.

Officers arrested three adults in connection with the car burglaries. A juvenile was also arrested for the possession of a firearm.

Clay spoke of the recent string of car burglaries in Olney, saying that as many as eight cars had been broken into on one night.

An additional arrest was made the next day during a routine traffic stop, where officers confiscated additional stolen items and marijuana.
