County, OHH, OISD OK Crombie’s Olney block bid

County Commissioners, Olney Hamilton Hospital, and school trustees cleared the way for Olney’s new housing surge by approving the sale of 10 foreclosed lots to a Jacksboro developer seeking to build homes in the northeast corner of town. The Commissioners, the hospital, and the Olney Independent School District Board of Trustees had to approve the $52,000 sale of the lots, some of which had been on the City’s foreclosure rolls for more than a decade, because of the back taxes owed them. The buyer is Crombie Properties of Olney LLC, owned by Kara Crombie of Jacksboro. Mrs. Crombie has rehabbed homes and historic buildings in Jacksboro.

City to take possession of Olney Savings building

The Olney City Council on Monday agreed to end a decade-old legal battle over the former Olney Savings and Loan building at 300 E. Main St., long a derelict eyesore at the eastern entrance to the City.

Annual student OCL bookmark contest winners announced

The winners of this year’s Olney Community Library bookmark contest for Olney Elementary School were announced April 25. In Pre-K the winner was Terrelle Monohon. The first place winner in Kindergarten was Everly Powers. First place in first grade was Mae Stewart. Brayleigh Acuna won for second grade, while Jessa Branum was the winner in third grade. First place in fourth grade was Leighton Daugherty. First place in fifth grade was Laney Kimbro.

Ft. Worth PI tracks down value in Olney’s older homes

Fort Worth Private Investigator Tim Matheus has rehabilitated and flipped five homes in Olney in the past two years, using his investigative skills to track down the owners of the dilapidated structures and persuade them to sell.
