1921 Young County Jail has been named to the Most Endangered Places list for 2021

Preservation Texas announced its annual list of Most Endangered Places Dec. 23, 2021. The nine endangered places included on the 2021 list are of historical, architectural, and cultural value statewide. The Most Endangered Places list is a call to action to ensure that treasured sites will endure for generations to come.

The long-awaited Olney Chamber of Commerce annual banquet has returned. The Chamber is hosting the event at the Olney Civic Center Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. This event is open only to the Olney Chamber members and associates, and registration is required. Welcome back, friends of Olney. The year was 1886, and Olney was starting to become more secure spiritually. Reverend Johannes Bartes of Clifton, Texas, traveled to Olney to hold a baptism and religious service for area residents, which was the beginning of the St. Lutheran Church of Olney, Texas. St. Lutheran is still Sheppard’s follower to this day. Shown is the St. Lutherans Church of Olney.
