Young County Clerk: Gilliam v. Harvey
In the race for Young County Clerk, Tina Gilliam will appear on the ballot and her opponent, Walter Harvey, is running as a write-in candidate.
The Enterprise queried the candidates about why they are seeking the County Clerk’s office, their goals for the office, and their qualifications.
Mr. Harvey: Why I decided to run: I believe in service; having been an independent contractor most of my life I wanted a challenge and a place to serve doing something I really enjoy.
My goals for the County Clerk’s office: Courteous and professional service for all the people of Young County. I will do everything in my power to preserve, protect and maintain the various records this office is responsible for.
I intend to make the digital safety and preservation of the records a top priority. If elected, I believe it’s important to have the applications we use daily in both English and Spanish, as you find in other county clerk offices across Texas.
Restoration and archiving the oldest records and preserving what previous clerks just did not have the time to do. Protecting the records is vital to the function and integrity of this office.
My experience in Young as an employee in the Clerk’s office and 20-plus years observing, working in, and using the records in County Clerk’s offices in multiple states from Texas to Wyoming.
Using the records in a Clerk’s office gives me a better perspective on how to improve the way we serve Young County. I am the right man to Write in for this job.
Mrs. Gilliam:
My name is Tina Gilliam. I’m your Republican candidate for Young County Clerk.
I have been employed with the Young County Clerk’s Office since March of 2021, and I currently serve as the chief deputy clerk. It has been my pleasure to serve you, and I would like the opportunity to continue serving you as your county clerk. I have attended numerous workshops, and training courses, and conferences over the past couple of years.
As your county clerk, I will make it my mission to guarantee honesty and integrity in this office. You will always be treated with dignity and respect. Also, I will always work to make sure your needs are met, as well as attending future educational courses and conferences as they are made available to me. The only “campaign promise” I will make to you, is as your county clerk, I will serve you to the very best of my ability.
In closing, I want to thank you for your time, and consideration, and I am humbly asking for your vote on November 5th, 2024.
Thank you; Tina R. Gilliam
